SUPPĀYA PRINCIPLES AND THE CONSERVATION OF BUDDHIST SITES WITHIN TEMPLES

Abstract

This academic article focuses on studying the public utilities within the temple, emphasizing the sappaya and conservation of Buddhist sites within the temple. The conclusion of the study is that the application of the sappaya principle, which is arranging the temple to be shady and convenient to use, results in the development of religious sites or Buddhist sites in the temple to be beneficial and attract tourists, including being able to develop other aspects as well. In terms of food, sappaya is convenient when visitors have a place to buy souvenirs and food to eat in the temple, which will enhance the image of good tourism. Including having people ready to work is a good development of human capital. There is the creation of young guides to be tour guides, telling the history within the temple and telling the importance of various Buddhist sites and the restoration of Buddhist sites, especially in the part where there are devotees who support the restoration. All parties must strictly enforce the principles of Buddhist site restoration as follows: First, in the case where devotees want to restore important Buddhist sites, there must be an explanation and control for all parties involved to follow the original format. Do not change the shape, appearance, and design of the Buddhist site to be something else as desired. Second, do not allow the destruction of important Buddhist sites. In order to create something to replace it, thirdly, do not allow the construction of anything new in the ancient place, because it will damage the Buddhist place, make it lose its splendor and value.
