SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS MANAGEMENT ACCORDING TO BUDDHIST GOVERNANCE FOR THE EXCELLENCE OF THE SPORTS AUTHORITY OF THAILAND

Abstract

Objectives of this research article were: 1. To study the excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand, 2. To examine the factors influencing the excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand, and 3. To propose the sports organizations management according to Buddhist governance for the excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand, conducted by the mixed-methods. The quantitative research, data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis. For the qualitative part, the key informants were executives of the Sports Authority of Thailand, national athletes, and stakeholders. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 18 key informants using a structured in-depth-interview script, as well as a focus group discussion with 10 participants. The data were analyzed by content descriptive interpretation.

Research findings were found that: 1. The overall excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand was at a high level. When considered by aspect, all dimensions were also at a high level. 2. The 4M management factors and Bhavana 4 significantly influenced the excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand at the 0.01 level. The 4M factors together predicted 64.3 percent of the variance, while Bhavana 4 predicted 73.1 percent, and 3. The management of the sports organization according to Buddhist good governance for excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand was achieved through the integration of 4M management factors with Bhavana 4. This integration contributed to the excellence of the Sports Authority of Thailand by establishing a systematic selection of talented athletes, creating international-standard training centers, increasing the number of professional athletes, improving records and competition results, and honoring the dignity and prestige of being Thai athletes.
