The Development of a Mobile Application for Tok Bidan Local Herbal Medicine Formulary Learning Hub, in Narathiwat Province

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) collect data on the learning resources of traditional herbal medicine recipes from Tok Bidan, based on input from local villagers in Narathiwat Province; 2) design and develop a mobile application; and 3) evaluate its effectiveness and user satisfaction. The research focused on preserving and disseminating local wisdom about traditional herbs. Researchers conducted an in-depth study of traditional herbal medicine recipes, analyzed user needs, and developed a mobile application with features such as a herbal database system, search functionality, and multidimensional displays incorporating text, images, and audio. The application also included security measures and user profile customization. The evaluation results of the application's performance and user satisfaction, in terms of user needs, scored an average of 4.39 (S.D. = 0.69), particularly for its comprehensive and useful herbal information. Its functionality scored 4.15 (SD = 0.72), reflecting quick processing and information display. Ease of use received a score of 4.16 (SD = 0.69), emphasizing the clarity of menus and the arrangement of functions. In terms of security, the highest average score was 4.30 (SD = 0.69), focusing on the login systems and the personal data protection. This research will play a significant role in preserving and promoting the traditional herbal knowledge of Tok Bidan. The findings contribute to the efforts of Thai traditional medicine and alternative medicine and can be further developed to promote health throughout the region.
