Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Risk and Intention to Use Digital Payment of Thai Business Owners: A Robust Multiple Regression Analysis

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the influence of perceived usefulness and perceived risk on the intention to use digital payment systems among Thai business owners. The sample consisted of 152 business executives in commerce and service sectors who were MBA students. Data were analyzed using standardized multiple regression with Ordinary Least Squares estimation, HC3 robust standard errors, and 5,000 bootstrap resamples to enhance statistical inference robustness. The results revealed that perceived usefulness had a statistically significant positive influence on usage intention (β = 0.296, p < 0.05), while perceived risk had a negative but non-significant influence (β = -0.116, p > 0.05). The model explained 8.1% of the variance in usage intention (R² = 0.081). Item-level logistic regression sensitivity analysis supported the robustness of the main findings. This research suggests that although Thai business owners primarily recognize the benefits of digital payment systems, perceived risk does not significantly hinder their adoption decisions in this sample.
