BRIDGING TRADITION AND TECHNOLOGY: MUSICAL TRAITS OF UYGHUR FOLK SONGS AND THEIR PEDAGOGICAL ADAPTATION TO THE ELECTRONIC ORGAN

Abstract

This article explores the intersection of cultural preservation and musical innovation by examining the musical traits of Uyghur folk songs and their pedagogical adaptation to the electronic organ. Rooted in the cultural history of the Silk Road, Uyghur folk music reflects deep connections to Turkic, Persian, and Central Asian musical traditions through its poetic lyrics, modal melodies, and ornamented vocal techniques. Simultaneously, the electronic organ, as a Western instrument, offers new possibilities for interpreting and teaching these musical elements in contemporary contexts. The article investigates the challenges of adapting microtonal inflections, heterophonic textures, rhythmic freedom, and traditional timbres to the digital and fixed-pitch framework of the electronic organ. Through innovative tuning strategies, voice layering, ornamentation effects, and culturally grounded teaching methods, the study demonstrates how traditional Uyghur music can be authentically preserved and dynamically reimagined. This synthesis offers valuable insights into 21st-century music pedagogy, digital adaptation, and cross-cultural musical understanding.
