Abstract
The objectives of this research are: 1) to examine the current situation of accommodation businesses in Nakhon Nayok province, 2) to study the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of accommodation businesses in Nakhon Nayok, 3) to analyze sustainable development approaches for accommodation businesses in the dimensions of environment, economy, and society, and 4) to propose sustainable development strategies for long-term growth of accommodation businesses in Nakhon Nayok. This qualitative research draws on studies, academic articles, and relevant documents, employing triangulation methods. The researcher selected 26 key informants through purposive sampling, including government officials, association representatives, accommodation business operators, academics, civil society members, and local residents involved in the accommodation sector in Nakhon Nayok. In-depth interviews were conducted. The findings reveal that Nakhon Nayok, with its abundant natural attractions, has experienced rapid growth in the accommodation sector, particularly in resorts, homestays, and eco-lodges. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted the sector, but business operators adapted by implementing hygiene measures and focusing on sustainable tourism. The government has also supported tourism recovery through various initiatives. The strengths of Nakhon Nayok include its proximity to Bangkok, diverse natural attractions, and low accommodation costs. Weaknesses are related to inadequate infrastructure and limited promotion. Opportunities arise from the growing trend in eco-tourism and government promotion programs, while threats include competition from neighboring provinces and risks from unsustainable resource management. Sustainable development approaches for accommodation businesses in Nakhon Nayok encompass environmental aspects such as renewable energy use and resource management, economic aspects focusing on increasing revenue from eco-tourism and cost reduction, and social aspects promoting local employment and cultural preservation through collaboration between communities and business operators.
