The Study of Effectiveness of Using Knee Poultice from Longan's Seed to Relieve Osteoarthritis of the Knee Among Elderly People of PhanomSarakham, Chachoengsao

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study the effectiveness of using knee poultice from longan seeds to relieve Osteoarthritis of the knee among elderly in Phanom Sarakham district, Chachoengsao province, and to study the elderly's satisfaction in treatment with knee poultice from longan's seed. This study was quasi-experimental research. The samples were 50 elderly people with knee pain who live in the responsibility area of Phanom Sarakham hospital and Phanom Sarakham health promoting hospitals. Longan seed poultice was used to poultice around the knee 6 times with 30 minutes per each time. The treatment was performed in 6 days continuously in every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The samples were asked to evaluate severity of knee Osteoarthritis using the Oxford Knee Score in 2 times: before and after using logan seed poultice. After 6 days of using the poultice, the particpants also were asked to answered the satisfaction test.The findings, after using poultice, revealed that the Oxford Knee Score was higher than that before using poultice with statistical significantly at p < 0.01; meaning that severity of knee Osteoarthritis was effectively relieved. Also, the knee Osteoarthritis elderly most satisisfied with logan seed poultice treatment, especially on the safety of using innovative knee poultice. The results from this study have suggestion that logan seed poultice could be applied to treat the knee Osteoarthritis elderly in another local areas of Phanom Sarakham, district, Chachoengsao province.
