Abstract

This experimental research had three objectives: to develop the “Stop it” card game as a learning medium for enhancing knowledge of Western musical instrument classification among Matthayomsuksa 1 students at Nampongsuksa School; to compare students’ learning achievement before and after using the “Stop it” card game; and to investigate students’ satisfaction with the card game as a learning medium. The results demonstrated that students’ post-test scores were significantly higher than their pre-test scores at the .05 significant level. The finding further indicated that the card game improved understanding of the lesson, increased their interest and enjoyment in learning music, and promoted active participation, with the highest mean score (̅X = 4.50). In terms of satisfaction, students reported the highest level (̅X = 4.50), noting that the game was easy to understand, visually clear, and enjoyable to play. The sample 30 Matthayomsuksa 1 students from a single classroom at Nampongsuksa School during the second semester of the 2025 academic year, selected through purposive sampling. The study employed a quantitative research methodology. Research instruments included the “Stop it” card game on Western musical instrument classification, 2) pre- and post test achievement assessments, and 3) a questionnaire measuring students’ opinions and satisfaction with the instructional media. Data collection involved administering a pre-test,  followed by learning activities utilizing  the card game, which emphasized game-based learning, student participation, and an engaging learning environment. Upon  completion to assess changes in learning achievement. Additionally, students’ opinions and satisfaction regarding the learning media were collected. The data were analyzed using a dependent-samples t-test, along with the mean, and standard deviation.

Rujikarn Weerapong is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Education programme in Western Music Education at the College of Music, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University. Born in Nan, Thailand, she completed her primary education at Holy Redeemer School Khon Kaen and her secondary education at Namphongsuksa School, Khon Kaen. Her academic interests include music education, classroom-based learning, and creative approaches to teaching music for young learners.

Natsarun Tissadikun, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University

Natsarun Tissadikun is a versatile professional in the music realm. Presently,she holds the position of assistant professor of music at  the College of  Music,Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University. In addition to this role, she imparts her musical expertise as a visiting teacher at international schools and other universities.Natsarun’s academic articles and research primarily delve into music education in wind bands, music performance, music composition, and community music within the context of Thailand. Her current project involves composing a  book on music activities tailored for children. Her academic journey includes the completion of basic ear training and four-part harmony since 2018. Natsarun acquired her PhD in Music from Khon Kaen University, MA in Music from Mahidol University, and BA in Music from Kasetsart University.
