Abstract

The care of monks in Thai society is crucial in terms of maintaining morality and ethics within the Buddhist community. Monks play an essential role in spreading the teachings and serve as good role models in living according to the principles of Buddhism. However, currently, there is a problem regarding the lack of control and monitoring of monks' activities by the relevant authorities, leading to incidents where some monks engage in immoral actions. This issue impacts the public’s trust in both religion and the monastic community. In the present situation, the lack of control and monitoring has led to the deterioration of the monastic institution, which is a problem that affects the credibility of the religion and the effectiveness of monks' duties in society. Therefore, improving the system of control and monitoring monks' activities is necessary to preserve the sanctity of the religion and maintain moral standards. The improvement of the system for the care of monks requires an effective and transparent monitoring process. Relevant agencies should play a key role in overseeing and monitoring monks' activities in all areas, especially regarding adherence to moral principles. This includes promoting cooperation between monks and communities to monitor various behaviors. Establishing a community network to monitor monks' activities would enhance transparency in adhering to ethical standards. Using technology to track and monitor monks' activities would improve the efficiency of care and control that can report and alert about inappropriate activities. Furthermore, it is essential to promote training for monks to improve their knowledge of Buddhist teachings in the context of modern society so that they can set a good example. To prevent misconduct and corruption, there should be clear legal processes with appropriate punishments, including establishing independent investigation committees. Promoting transparency within religious organizations is crucial to help society trust the correctness and fairness of religious practices.
