The Needs of Student Teachers’ innovativeness in Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University

This research aimed 1) to study the current and desired status of student teachers' innovativeness in Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University and 2) to prioritize the innovation needs of student teachers in Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University. The sample group consisted of first-to fourth-year student teachers of Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University, who studied in second semester, academic year of 2023 in a number of 350 students which classified as 105 first-year students, 86 second-year students, 77 third-year students, and 82 fourth-year students, obtained using multi-stage random sampling. Data were collected by using two questionnaires in a 5-point rating scale format with 8 components 46 indicators, The first version of the questionnaire on the current status of student teachers' innovation has a consistency index from 0.80 to 1.00, with discrimination power from 0.88 to 0.98, and a reliability value from 0.80 to 1.00, and the second version of the questionnaire on the desired state of student teacher innovation has a consistency index from 0.80 to 1.00, with a discrimination power from 0.86 to 0.93, and a reliability value at 0.99. Data were analyzed by using Mean, Standard Deviation, the Priority Needs Index using the Modified Priority Need Index (PNI modified) technique.
The research results found that 1) the current state of student teachers’ innovativeness was at a moderate level in overall (= 2.69, = 0.68) when considering each aspect; Creativity, Work Challenge, Determination and Intention, Communication, and Problem Solving were at a moderate level while Innovative Thinking, Teamwork, and Risk Acceptance were at a low level. The desired state of student teachers’ innovativeness was at a high level overall ( = 4.43, = 0.63) when considering each aspect, it was found that all aspects were at a high level and 2) the two most urgent and important needs for development were innovative thinking, followed by teamwork.
